A Long Day.

Approach into Santander

It is now over two years since I walked this route and a good while since my last posting. Since then I have started walking the Via Podensis from Le Puy in France. I may write a blog about that later. For now I take up my Camino, now into the eleventh day and approaching Santander.

sun rise We decide to have a go at getting to Santander today and we are breakfasted and off early before the sun rises. The walk out of Santona takes us over a promentary as the sun rises over the beach behind us.

The last 12 kms or so is mostly road walking and takes its toll on the feet.

We are happy to get the ferry into Santander and we decide to spoil ourselves in a good hotel and to take a rest tomorrow.

I am happy to rest my aching feet and Mike is suffering with a strain. After a thorough search we are finally ensconsed after a full nine hours on the road and too tired to do much except find a good meal and rest up.

We plan to take a rest tomorrow and catch an evening bus as far as Santilla-del Mar. The thought of a day of urban road walking does not appeal. We are also having second thoughts about our abilities to take the Primitivo route unless our injuries heal.
